For 2 1/2 years, I was dis-connected from my website and from the Internet, (May, 2004 to Nov, 2006) because of hard times, etc.  I finally got back in November, 2006, so I'm still moving the furniture around on my website.  I hope you understand.
If at first you don't succeed...
Of the 61 articles I have written thus far (7/07), the following article entitled,
"Legacy:  A Gift of Writing, was written three times...in different ways!  There first two were about 800 words and went nowhere, except to the bottom of the ocean!  I decided to cut the words in half and make it a humorous piece, and the piece went up the charts and broke into my top 15 of articles in hits/views, and is still climbing!  If at first you don't succeed...

Graduate for the Ages
This piece was quoted from the AARP News Bulletin of June, 2007, and is a great story of how a 95 year old woman finally got her degree and graduated from college.

"Proving it's never too late to get a degree, 95-year old Nola Ochs received a sheepskin in May from Fort Hays State Univeristy in Kansas.  Her general studies degree, with an emphasis on history, made its own history.  Guinness World Records singles out Ochs, as the world's oldest college graduate ever.

The mother of four...who is also the grand-mother of 13 and great-grand-mother of 15...began taking classes after her husband, Vernon, died in 1972.  "I just wanted to get my degree," Ocha says of the media attention surrounding her achievement.  "I didn't have any idea it was going to start all this!"  Ocha's 21 year-old granddaughter, Alexandria, also was in the graduating class."

Talk about being enrolled in the School of Hard Knocks!  The story went on to say, that the woman would not stop at getting her degree, but would enroll in graduate school in the fall!  AMAZING!

Improving Writing Skills:  There's No Free Lunch
Others will decide whether I'm a good writer or not, but in my  40's, I went back to the books and completed three writing courses to try to improve my writing skills.  The Writer's Digest correspondence course; the National Writers Club course; and a creative writing course at the University of New Mexico.  This was done in the 1980's before the Internet came about, and it's one of the best things I've ever done for myself!  It's given me the confidence in my writing I needed to post my writings on the Internet to show the world.  The courses took about 18 months to complete and at a cost of a couple of hundred dollars at the time.    Keep in mind, that a person doesn't have to spend hundreds of dollars on expensive writing courses to improve writing skills, etc.  It can be done for free at a local library...or little cost at a community college or buy purchasing a book, etc.
Why Didn't Think of That?
How many times have you asked yourself that question?  This show is about humor and creativity, which just seem to go together!
